This evening brings space to reflect\, support one another\, and celebrate our strength as a community. \nWe’ll begin with a warm and welcoming potluck\, followed by evening entertainment and karaoke to close out the night. Everyone is encouraged to come share food\, stories\, and support. \nFeatured Speaker: Jessie McGrath\nJessie McGrath is a recently retired Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney with over 37 years of service. Throughout her career\, she handled serious felony cases\, including special circumstances murder. Her first murder trial involved the killing of a trans woman on Sunset Boulevard in 1988\, an experience that helped shape her lifelong commitment to justice. \nMs. McGrath has also worked in several specialty units\, with expertise in consumer protection\, cyber-crime\, narcotics\, and juvenile law. She helped build what is now the Cyber Crimes Division. She earned both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. \nNow back in her home state\, she continues to advocate for equality. She is the parent of five children\, three of whom are law-school graduates. She also serves as Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for APLA Health (formerly AIDS Project Los Angeles) and is active with the National Trans Bar Association. \nWhy You Should Attend\nThis is a meaningful opportunity to gather in solidarity\, honor the lives we’ve lost\, and celebrate the power and beauty of our trans community. We are calling all local Drag and Burlesque entertainers to apply and show us what you’ve got. \nEvent Details\nRumble Date: Saturday\, May 9\, 2026Performer Call Time: 9:00 PMShow Starts: 10:00 PMLocation: Flixx Lounge & Cabaret \nFrom our pool of applicants\, 20 performers will be selected to battle it out in front of a live audience. One top-scoring performer will earn a coveted spot on the Main Stage at this year’s Pride Festival. \nAnd that’s not all. The highest score of the night qualifies for two years of Main Stage eligibility. \nPlease note: There will be no comment cards at the Rumble. Scores only. \nAbout the 2026 Heartland Pride Festival\nThe 2026 Heartland Pride Festival will take place on Saturday\, July 18\, 2026\, at the Omaha Performing Arts campus in Omaha\, Nebraska. \nThis year\, we are excited to feature two stages with performance opportunities.
