US BankBiography
his month, U.S. Bank is embarking on the largest Pride Month celebration in its history by participating in events in 33 cities – the most ever.
A national sponsorship of the important work of the Human Rights Campaign and the launch of a new LGBT-focused debit card.
Our employees, including members of our Spectrum LGBT employee group, will be waving flags, dancing in the streets and marching in parades to recognize the importance of the LGBT community and to remember those individuals who have sacrificed or suffered to secure equal rights for LGBT individuals. We especially want to show our pride at signature events in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Cincinnati and Minneapolis, said Ann Dyste, LGBT strategy segment lead, for U.S. Bank.
“Pride Month is a special time for U.S. Bank because it gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our belief that all people are equal and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect,” Dyste says. “This is how we treat our employees, our customers and the communities where we work.”
For example, U.S. Bank has launched its first U.S. Bank Visa® Debit Card Pride Design which customers can order now by calling 800.872.2657, visiting any U.S. Bank branch, or Log in your secured Online Banking. If you are not a customer, apply today to get your card. The card, created by artist Olivia Ogba of Atlanta, gives LGBT customers and their allies a tangible symbol to show their support of the community. “Now customers can put their money where their pride is and show the world that they support our community,” Dyste says. “Our card design is just the latest of many efforts that have earned U.S. Bank the Human Rights Campaign’s perfect score on its Corporate Equality Index.”
In addition to receiving the CEI perfect ranking, U.S. Bank has become a national corporate partner of the HRC, America’s largest civil rights organization aimed at lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality. For the 10th year in a row, HRC ranked U.S. Bank as a best place to work for LGBT equality.
“Ten consecutive years of a perfect Corporate Equality Index score is a phenomenal demonstration of the bank living its core values,”
said Todd Ackerman, director of enterprise program services, who accepted the CEI award on U.S. Bank’s behalf.
“Specifically, its commitment in creating a safe environment through which diverse ideas are cultivated, celebrated and leveraged to make us all better every day. It is important to note that the perfect score does not occur through the actions of a few individuals. It is, instead, reflective of the bank’s culture, which is simply a shared philosophy of inclusion among 73,000 employees.”
